In a bid to curb Australia’s single use plastic addiction, a reusable coffee cup exchange program has kicked off with unique world first QR code technology. The program is genius because it recruits unwanted op shop cups and gives them a second chance at life, rather than adding the world’s overproduction problem, which would traditionally use new cups. DL COMMS client, Our Kinds, scans and counts the cup as it is reused, producing a collective number to show how many takeaway cups and lids are being saved. The company has already saved almost 60,000 single use cups during the pilot program.
